SuYo Power Fest ’09 “Ang Sarap Dito!”

SuYo (Summer Youth) is a yearly event of the youth ministry where we celebrate our “Love to our Ministry” responding to the call of modern times that enables our youth experience the power of faith, hope and love. (“Suyo” is a Kapampangan word which means both Love and Service.)

Introduction

Every Summer the Vicariate of the Holy Spirit Youth Ministry (VHS-YM) initiates activity to gather the young people from different parishes, targeted barangays, sitios and other youth communities as integral part of the church through sports and other religious activities. This event was dubbed“ SuYo Power Fest 2009” with the theme “Receive the Power of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 1:8) from World Youth Day theme 2008 which will be held on May 21, 22 and 23, 2009 at Our Lady of Grace Parish, Mabalacat, Pampanga.

Objectives

· To deepen our commitment in the church, service to the community and relationship with others.
· To invite the young people from Barangay and other communities to become integral part of the church through sports and other religious activities.
· Create an opportunity to experience camaraderie among the young people and receive the power of the Holy Spirit through SuYo Power Fest saying “Ang Sarap Dito!”.

Guidelines for the Lakan at Mutya ning Su’Yo 2009

1. The search is open for males and females of age 21 and below.
2. Parishes may send one pair of contestants
3. Participating non-parish youth organizations can have either one (male or female) or one pair to represent their delegation.
4. There will be four events: Ethnic Costume, Jeans Competition, Sports Wear Competition and Paper Apparel Competition. The first three events will be held on the first day and the last event will be held on the last day of the Su’Yo Power Fest 2009.
5. Names of the participants shall be submitted at par with the submission of the Su’Yo Participants.
6. Contestants shall be judged in the following criteria:


Poise and Bearing -10%
Ethnic Costume -15%
Jeans Competition -10%
Sportswear Competition -10%
Paper Apparel (Evening Wear)-25%
Casual Interview -25%
Audience Impact -5%
TOTAL -100%

Guidelines for the Mass Dance and MTV Contest

Guidelines for the Mass Dance and MTV Contest (1 participating group form each parish)

1. Parish or the group should have minimum of 20 and maximum of 30 performers.
2. “Ang Sarap Dito by Project 1”will be the official contest music.
3. The performance should not exceed 8 minutes including preparations.
4. The group can be creative by adding any stunts, songs etc on the beginning or end but not on any part of the contest music.
5. Time limit deduction will be given if exceeded with the time allotment.

On MTV

6. MTV should be synchronous with the Mass Dance and relevant to the objectives.
7. NO limit on the participants that will appear on the MTV.

8. Mass Dance shall be judged in the following criteria:

30% - Choreography and Synchronization
30% - Over all Presentation in relevance to the MTV and them
30% - Creativity (Costume and Props)
10% - Audience Impact
100% -TOTAL


9. MTV shall be judged in the following criteria:

25% - Relevance to the Theme and Objective
25% - Youthfulness
25% - Creativity
25% - Over All Impact (Video Quality)
100% - TOTAL

Special award will be given on the BEST MTV PRESENTATION.
